F= BIL

F = 0.027 N

B = magnetic flux density

I = current in the wire = 3.5 A

L = length of the wire = 5 cm = 0.05 m

Therefore the magnetic flux density is

B = F/IL = 0.027/3.5 x 0.05) = 0.15 T

b) Assumptions are:

The magnetic flux density between the poles is uniform

The magnetic flux density is perpendicular to the length of the wire

The force does not move the wire and the wire stays perpendicular to the magnetic flux density
