Does society's interest in protecting fetuses justify coercive and/or punitive measures against pregnant women who use alcohol, nicotine, or other drugs? If no, then why not? If yes, what form should such measures take? What might be some of the potential drawbacks or unintended consequences that might arise if we were to enact such penalties or sanctions? Do you think more should be done to discourage pregnant women from using alcohol and drugs during pregnancy? If so, what?

Answer.

Foetus is an unborn offspring that nourishes in the womb of women.It is one of the developmental name of baby.Pregnancy is the glorious stage in the life of women.Women should take careful measures to tackle unpredictable incidents.

Consumptiom of alcohol, nicotine and other drugs should be avoided for healthy pregnancy.But it does not mean that punitive steps will be use to pressurise women to follow these steps.Because these steps may lead to bad effect on health of baby as well as mother.There may be danger of mental disorder, stress, fatigue etc. mental diseases.This also impact physical and emotional health.

There are various drawbacks of imposing punitive measures.These measures will bring fear in the mind of women.Sanctions effect women's social and psychological behaviour.This may bring mutation in the body of women or ay be in child during development.Systems of body which are capable of working efficiently may shrink its capacity.Baby may develop with partial development.This will impact later life of baby.

To avoid use of alcohol we should make a proper steady plan.This will free a lot in dealing with use of alcohol and other toxic substance during pregnancy of women.Proper guidelines should be follow by women on intake of nutritional food.Life partners should work in collaboration to encourage women to help them avoid these toxic substances.They should be teach about harmful effect of alcohol, nicotine and other substances on health of baby as well as theirselves.
