How would % O2 Differ :

  • If test tube (with MnO2 ) was not heated before adding KClO3 , we will report higher % O2 than actual amount as moisture will be removed with O2 as we have not removed it by prior heating.
  • Amonut of O2 ( %) will depend on the mass of plastic test tube stand, if it is higher than initial one we will report lesser % , and if lesser than we will report higher O2 %.
  • KClO3 , will not decompose completely, thus we will report lesser % O2 than actual amount.
  • If some contents were blown out , we report higher % O2 than actual amount as final mass will more less.
  • If KClO3 contains KCl ,than we report lesser % O2 than theoretical calculations, as O2 will evolve from KClO3 only.
