Answer #1

Formula to be used

Expected time duration = Mean = [TO +4*TM + TP]/6

Variance = V = ([TP -TO]/6)^2

Standard Deviation = \sigma = \sqrt{V}

Using the formula stated above,

Calculating Expected time duration (Te) for task 1 = [3 + 4*7 + 14]/6 =45/6 = 7.5

Calculating variance for task 1 = [(14-3)/6]^2 = (11/6)^2 = 3.3611

Calculating standard deviation for task 1 = {\sqrt{3.3611}} = 1.833

Similar calculations are performed using these formula for all tasks and presented in the table below-

Task To Tm Tp Te Variance Standard Deviation
1 3 7 14 7.500 3.361 1.833
2 16 21 43 23.833 20.250 4.500
3 6 8 15 8.833 2.250 1.500
4 9 11 19 12.000 2.778 1.667
5 18 21 38 23.333 11.111 3.333
6 13 18 30 19.167 8.028 2.833
7 12 17 27 17.833 6.250 2.500
8 7 9 13 9.333 1.000 1.000

As we can see from the table above, Task 2 has the highest value of standard deviation (4.5) and hence the highest degree of uncertainty.

    7 1) Research has shown that activating negative stereotypes can have an effect on performance of complex tasks (Jones & 8 Joans, 1972). To test this phenomenon, a sample of n-25 female college students was given a mental rotation task at noon on one day and s again at noon on the following day. On the first day, the students simply completed the task. However, on the second day, a negative stereotype was activated 10 prior to the task by...

    One measure of variation that we can look at is the Range when we have continuous variables. We will be using this measure to create a histogram. A histogram is used to show the frequencies of certain events or categories of data values in a set of data from one time period. Data are plotted in increasing or deceasing order based on the frequency count for each data categories. Assignment I Below is a data file containing the average number...

    I'm try to complete an Operating Systems assignment where we have 8 processes, and each process has between 14-18 bursts. We have to do a FCFS simulation, SJF simulation, and MLFQ simulation. I am well aware of how to calculate everything for the processes when we just have one set of bursts to deal with, however these processes have way more than that. I am a very visual learner, I would love if someone could explain to me how to...
