Answer #1

We have,

Approximate blood volume in an adult = V = 4.8\:dm^{3}

( note that,

dm\equiv decimeter

1\:dm=0.1\:m=10\:cm

1 dm 10 m n3 = 103 cm = 1 ltr

So,

V = 4.8 dm = 4.8 x 10 m

We have

Whole blood density =\rho=1060\:kg/m^{3}

So total mass (m) of blood in an adult will be given as,

m=\rho.V ___________________relation(1)

So weight (W) of the blood will be given as,

W=m.g

g=9.8\:m/s^{2}= acceleration due to gravity of earth near the surface of the earth.

Using relation (1) in above relation we get,

W=\rho.V.g

Using given values of \rho,V\:and\:g we get,

W=1060\times4.8\times10^{-3}\times9.8

W=49.8624\:N

So weight of the blood in an adult is,

W=50\:N (Expressed in two significant figures)
