Answer #1

Zimbardo study shows how social roles influence our behvaiour. A situation can reveal personality, they way prionsers were treated was actually very abusive, anybody's ego could have got hurted. Moreover the act of getting into prison is not a life time punishment that feeling made them more aggressive towards guards. The prisoners attitude was very hostile due to the beating that they received tasked such as cleaning toilets with bare hands.Zimbardo says that situations have more powerful effect on our behaviour. A few people recognise this fact. The fact that guards were told to direct even their eye contact was avoided due to the black glasses made them more authortative. If the roles are stereotyped, then person looses his own individual sense of identity and personal responsibility. It is said that gurads may have lost their personal identity because of the uniform that they wore.
