The main reason for the difference in the growth rate of yeast and bacteria is the mode of reproduction they carry out.Bacteria multiply by asexual reproduction process called as binary fission,where the parent bacterium divides into two.The cells of bacteria are less complex than that of yeast and takes less time for the cell division process to complete and thus they multiply very rapidly as compared to yeasts.

Yeasts on other hand reproduces through asexual process called as budding,where the new organism develops from a bud or an outgrowth due to cell division at a particular site.The cells of yeasts are much more complex and the slow reproduction process adds to the slow growth rate of yeasts.
