Answer #1

The cost of ending inventory and the cost of goods sold by three methods is calculated as follows:

a)FIFO

Ending Inventory under FIFO method is calculated as follows:

Ending Inventory under FIFO method = 18 units

1)The cost of Ending Inventory under FIFO method = 2 units * $2,040 + 16 units * $2,100

= $4,080 + $33,600

= $37,680

2) Cost of goods Sold under FIFO method

=(22 units*$1,800) + (29 units*$1,950 + 14 units*$2,040 + 16 units*$2,100) - $37,680

=$39,600 + ( $56,550 + $28,560 + $33,600 )- $37,680

=$39,600 + $118,710 - $37,680

= $120,630

b)LIFO Method:

Ending Inventory under LIFO method is calculated as follows:

Ending Inventory under LIFO method = 18 units

1)The cost of Ending Inventory under LIFO method = 18 units * $1,800

= $32,400

2) Cost of goods Sold under LIFO method

=(22 units*$1,800) + (29 units*$1,950 + 14 units*$2,040 + 16 units*$2,100) - $32,400

=$39,600 + ( $56,550 + $28,560 + $33,600 )- $32,400

=$39,600 + $118,710 - $32,400

= $125,910

c)Weighted average cost method

Ending Inventory under Weighted average cost method is calculated as follows:

Ending Inventory under Weighted average cost method = 18 units

Cost per Unit

= (22 units*$1,800 + 29 units*$1,950 + 14 units*$2,040 + 16 units*$2,100) / 22 units + 29 units + 14 units + 16 units

=( $39,600 + $56,550 + $28,560 + $33,600 ) / 81 units

= $158,310 / 81 units

= $1,954.44

1)The cost of Ending Inventory under Weighted average cost method = 18 units * $1,954.44

= $35,180

2) Cost of goods Sold under Weighted average cost method

=(22 units*$1,800) + (29 units*$1,950 + 14 units*$2,040 + 16 units*$2,100) - $35,180

=$39,600 + ( $56,550 + $28,560 + $33,600 ) - $35,180

=$39,600 + $118,710 - $35,180

= $123,130
