Question

Two long, parallel conductors, separated by 13.0 cm, carry currents in the same direction. The first wire carries a current 116.00 A, and the second carries I29.00 A. (See figure below. Assume the conductors lie in the plane of the page.) (a) What is the magnetic field created by I at the location of I2? direction (b) What is the force per unit length exerted by i1 on 12? What Is the equation giving the magnetic force on a current carrying wire? N/m direction (c) What is the magnetic field created by 12 at the location of 1 magnitude directionSelect- (d) What is the force per length exerted by I2 on 1? magnitude N/m Select-

Answer #1

a) B = uoI1 / 2*pi*r

B = 4*pi*10-7*6 / 2*pi*0.13

B = 9.231E-6 T

B = 9.231 uT (perpendicular to I and r)

b) We know, F = ILB

So, F/L = IB

F/L = uoI1I2 / 2*pi*r

F/L = 4*pi*10-7*6 / 2*pi*0.13

F/L = 7.384E-5 N/m

c) B = uoI2 / 2*pi*r

B =  4*pi*10-7*8 / 2*pi*0.13

B = 12.31 uT or 1.231e-5 T

d) F/L = uoI2I1 / 2*pi*r

F/L = 7.384e-5 N/m
