Advantage are

1) It helps us to Provide the strengths which offset the weaknesses of both the quantitative and even the qualitative research.
2) Provides a more comprehensive and complete understanding of the actual research problem either quantitative or qualitative approaches alone.
3) Provides an way to develop better, many context specific instruments. For instance, by using the qualitative research possibilities to gather information on certain topic in order to develop an instrument with greater construct validity, i.e., that measures the construct that it intends to measure
.4) It basically Helps us to understand and explain findings or how causal processes work.

Disadvantages and limitations

1) The research design used in this may be very complex.
2) Takes much more resources and even time to plan and implement research.
3) It may be difficult to implement and plan one method by drawing on the findings of another.
4) It may not be clear how to resolve discrepancies which arise in the interpretation of the findings.
