When Unpolarized light passes through first polarizer, it's intensity will be reduced to half
I1 = I0/2
After that when light passes thorugh 2nd polarizer, Intensity will be given by Malus's law, So
I2 = I1*(cos A1)^2
I2 = (I0/2)*(cos A1)^2
A1 = angle between polaroid sheets = 40.0 deg
I2/I0 = (1/2)*(cos 40 deg)^2
I2 = 0.2934*I0
I2/I0 = 0.2934 (in fraction form)

Questions 1. If an unpolarized light passes through an ideal Polaroid filter, what percent of the light is transmitted? 2 Unpolarized light with intensity I, is incident on a Polaroid, and the emerging light strikes a second Polaroid with its axis at 60 to that of the first. Initially unpolarized light passes through a polarizer with transmission axis oriented in the vertical direction. a) What ratioof the initial light is transmitted?b) The light then passes through a second polarizer with transmission axis oriented at an angle of 30° to the first polarizer. What ratio of the light is transmitted through the second polarizer?c) What ratioof the initially unpolarized light is transmitted through the second polarizer?
Unpolarized light is incident on a series of two Polaroid sheets. The intensity of the light emerging from the second sheet is 9.30% of the intensity of the light incident on the first sheet. Find the angle between the transmission axes of the two sheets.
Unpolarized light with an intensity of 275 W/m2 passes through a polarizer with a vertical axis. Then it goes through a second polarizer, at an angle of 37.50 to the first one, what is the intensity of the light after passing through the second polarizer?
Unpolarized light with intensity 350W/m^2 passes first through a polarizing filter with its axis vertical, then through a second polarizing filter. It emerges from the second filter with intensity 131 W/m^2. What is the angle from vertical; of the axis of the second polarizing filter?
Unpolarized light passes through two polarizers whose transmission axes are at an angle of 20.0 ∘ with respect to each other. What fraction of the incident intensity is transmitted through the polarizers?
