Borrow site:

Soil density = 120 pcf

Water content = 15%

Dry density = Soil density / (1+water content) = 120/1.15 = 104.35 pcf

Fill site:

Soil density = 135 pcf

Water content = 17%

Dry density = Soil density/(1+water content) = 135/1.17 = 115.385 pcf

Assume 1 cubic yard to be filled in fill site

Vi 115.385 104.35

V​​​​​​1 = 1.106 cubic yards

Water added to borrow pit = 7aV(W2 – w1 = 104.35 * 1 * 27 * (0.17 - 0.15) = 56.35 lbs

Number of gallons = 56.35/8.34 = 6.76 gallons
