The redesign should be in line with your critique and suggestions for improvement. It should also reflect your knowledge of visual communication and your understanding of visual design principles in general. Every detail in your redesign should serve the purpose well and help improve the overall usability from a user’s point of view.

This (redesign) will give you the opportunity to showcase your creativity in design, but on the other hand do not get carried away with a desire for creativity. Very often, a simple design can be more effective than a one filled with fancy graphics. Remember the five general principles about “good design” offered by the author of our textbook (pp. 334-35)? (As a practical rule, the functional always takes priority over the beautiful when effectiveness of communication is at stake.)
