there are mainly 4 types of noises in communication; they are

  • Physical noise: these are the interference that is external to both speaker and listener.

eg: loud noise from the background when you try to record

  • Physiological noise: These are the noise created by barriers within the sender or receiver  

eg: Speaking too fast or too slow, forgetting to pause, mumbling etc.

  • Psychological noise: it is the mental interference in the listener or speaker

eg: Unrelated thoughts. preconceived ideas and sarcasm.

  • Semantic noise: It arises when a speaker and a listener have different interpretations of the meanings of certain words.

eg: when I use a word, you have a slightly different meaning in mind. This can create Semantic noise.
