38) Which of the following are adaptations in FORM that increase the Surface Area of structures in an organism, such that the FUNCTION of molecular exchange can be enhanced?

Extensions called “root hairs” that grow from root systems in plants.

Internal branching of lungs into numerous sub-divisions called bronchioles.

Both villi and microvilli projections in the vertebrate digestive system.

Flat shape and branching shapes of gastrovascular cavity in flatworms (Platyhelminthes).

All of the above.

You analyze a set of data to address your null hypothesis, “There is no difference in stomatal density between orange tree leaves growing in full sun compared to orange tree leaves growing in full shade”.  The critical value (CV) is 1.740.  You calculate a t value of 0.370. Based on these results, your data:

support your null hypothesis; sun exposure is an important environmental factor in determining stomatal density.

do NOT support your null hypothesis; sun exposure is an important environmental factor in determining stomatal density.

support your null hypothesis; sun exposure is NOT an important environmental factor in determining stomatal density.

do NOT support your null hypothesis; sun exposure is NOT an important environmental factor in determining stomatal density.

you cannot make any conclusions based on these data.

Answer #1

38) ALL OF THE ABOVE

All the given options are adaptation that increases the surface area ,such that the molecular exchange can be enhanced.

extension like roothair can absorb more amount of waterfrom the soil by going deeper to the soil.

Internal branching of lungs into numerous sub-divisions called bronchioles. each bronchioles end up in alveoli. so that the area of gas exchange is increased.

Both villi and microvilli projections in the vertebrate digestive system. This are the projection present in the intestine, that provide more surface area for the absorption of nutrients.

39) OPTION C- support your null hypothesis; sun exposure is NOT an important environmental factor in determining stomatal density.

HERE the NULL HYPOTHESIS is

“There is no difference in stomatal density between orange tree leaves growing in full sun compared to orange tree leaves growing in full shade”.

After doing the "t " test the value got is 0.370 which is less than that of the critical cut off value (1.740)

so the null hypothesis is true.

if the value of t test is above the critical cut off value , null hypothesis will be False .
