Question

Q3: As people envision moving out into space in the future, one possibility is living in some sort of space station and not on a planet. But without a planet, yoiu would have continual weightlessness which is not tolerated very long by the human body. One way to get around this is to imagine taking a very large diameter tube and bending it into a circle (like a doughnut). The people would live inside the tube and you could create gravity artificially by rotating the whole tube Suppose that scientists figured out the correct size and rotation rate so that people would feel the same gravity as on earth As the people would be walking around in this environment they would be walking on the wall closest to the outside like picture B and not picture A Explain why this is true. Remember that the net radial force is always produced by one or more of the real forces (tension, normal, friction, etc) that we have previously introduced. As part of your explanation, label diagram B with the real force that is producing the radial acceleration. Note that labeling it Fr i:s incomplete 8

    4. A proposed space station has the shape of a large wheel with the living and working space at the very outside edge (the rim) of the wheel. The space station rotates about an axis through the center, resulting in a normal force on the people inside, simulating gravity. The radius of the wheel is R = 44.6 m. When a person inside the station with a mass M = 65.4 kg steps on a scale, the measured "weight" is...

INTRODUCTION Many problems can develop in activated sludge operation that adversely affect effluent quality with origins in the engineering, hydraulic and microbiological components of the process. The real "heart" of the activated sludge system is the development and maintenance of a mixed microbial culture (activated sludge) that treats wastewater and which can be managed. One definition of a wastewater treatment plant operator is a "bug farmer", one who controls the aeration...
