2 NH3 (g) → 3 H2 (g) + N2 (g)

Which of the following is true about entropy associated with this reaction?

A. The entropy of the system will be positive because the mol of gas is increasing.
B. The entropy of the system will be negative because the mol of gas is decreasing.

Answer #1

entrpoy is disorder. this means that more moles of gas, are more disordered

therefore fr this specific reaction

2 mol of gas react to form (3+1) = 4 mol of gas

therefore.. expec entrpy to increase is reaction goes forward

choose:

A. The entropy of the system will be positive because the mol of gas is increasing.
