for (a) hypergeometric or binomial distrbution? im confused, cuz they both look right to me. pls explain the difference.
hypergeoetric: N=50, M=27, n=8
binomial: n=8, p=27/50=0.54
(u dont need to answer those question)
For (a) we need to use Hypergeometric distribution
Because hypergeometric distribution is used in case of sampling without replacement
Whereas Binomial distribution is used in case of with replacement
For binomial distribution probability of success remains constant
Here 8 pumpkins are chosen randomly which means without replacement
So N= 50 , n = 8 , M = 27

solve this problem by using Binomial approximation and compare the results with answers from Hypergeometric (2 Bookmarks) Problem Show all steps: ON Suppose that 50 sites on a patient might contain lesions. A biopsy selects 8 sites randomly (without replacement). What is the minimum number of sites with lesions so that the probability of at least one selected site contains lesions is greater than or equal to 0.95? Rework for greater than or equal to 0.99. Step-by-step solution Step 1...
Please state which of the following random variables are binomial, geometric, negative binomial, or hypergeometric a. Let # of lines in 100 lines of someone's computer program that have a bug. Assume each line of code is independently buggy of every other line and that the probability of a having a bug in a line of code is the same for each line. b. Let T the shot of tequila that you drink that makes you throw up. Assume the...
The Binomial and Poisson Distributions Both the Binomial and Poisson Distributions deal with discrete data where we are counting the number of occurrences of an event. However, they are very different distributions. This problem will help you be able to recognize a random variable that belongs to the Binomial Distribution, the Poisson Distribution or neither. Characteristics of a Binomial Distribution Characteristics of a Poisson Distribution The Binomial random variable is the count of the number of success in n trials: number of...
