The hydroboration-oxidation reaction part is an anti-Markonikov reaction, where the -BH2 group, in presence of THF, attaches to the less substituted carbon atom, followed by hydroxyl group in the same place. The hydroxyl group addition is a syn addition which gives a cis arrangement of molecule.
