a) R square for the subset of variables X1, X2, X3, X4 is 0.9680. This subset is the best among all because they explained 96.8 % variability in the response variable say Y. Among all other subsets this is most explained variation.

b) The subset X1, X2, X4 has MSE 48.59743 which is minimum among all other subsets. Hence according to minimum MSE criterion this is the best subset of independent variables. Means they may use to fit a best model.

c) To obtain the best model by choosing the best subset among all other subsets, we prefer the subset which have smaller Mallow's Cp value. In the table given above for the subset X1, X2, X4 the Mallow's Cp value is 3.187 which is smallest among all other values. Hence X1, DE and X4 is the best subset among all.

Note that R square value for the subset X1, X2 an X4 is 0.9674 which is not so much different than 0.9680. Hence among all other subsets this subset is the best subset. And we can get best fit using this subsets.
