QUESTION 2
Major Research Approaches are used to explain leadership styles. The Integrative leadership is an emerging leadership approach that fosters collective action across many types of boundaries in order to achieve the common good. It brings together leadership concepts and practice rooted in five major sectors of society-business, government, non profits, media, and community.
Identify any leader of your choice and discuss why you describe him/her as someone having interpretative leadership qualities relating to the following qualities:
i) Decisiveness. (10 Marks)
ii) Humility. (10 Marks)
The leader i am choosing is Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi-
1) Decisiveness:- The BJP lost some state assembly seats in the by-election in 2001 due to allegations of abuse of power, corruption, and administration. And the BJP is seeking a new candidate for the post of chief minister, instead of Modi. The BJP leader offered Modi a deputy chief minister, but rejected the offer saying he was "fully responsible for Gujarat or not at all". It was his determination that made him the Chief Minister of Gujarat.
To be a great leader requires a lot of decision-making. And the decision you make every day is what defines who you are. Ordinary people do not dare make extraordinary decisions, which is why they are routine. Extraordinary people, on the other hand, are very decisive. They make their decision quickly and they stick to it.
Warren Buffett is considered one of the best investors in the world. He is known for his ability to pick the right stock for low-value companies. Yet, his ability is something many people have never noticed; To stick to his decision, it made him billions of dollars.
Everyone knows that stock market prices are changing rapidly. Most people lose money because they act according to market sentiment or price fluctuations. The stock prices they buy fall in and people around them shout, "Sell", they are affected and they go to sell the stock. However, this does not happen to Warren Buffett.
Therefore, learn to be decisive and stick to the decision you made. If you spend too much time thinking about lunch and dinner, it means that your decision-making skills are not polished enough. Learn to be like Modi, be it big or you go home.
2) Humility- Indian PM Narendra Modi nature is often portrayed
as dominating and arrogant. He is definitely a capable man with
strong leadership qualities. But this is not the case. His touch
will shine brightly on his 'other side', a side full of humility
and modesty.
The incident occurred in January 2009 when Modiji was the Chief
Minister of Gujarat. India focused on the successful celebration of
Chandrayan, the first successful ISRO access to the Moon. It is
important here to note that ISRO is a body that falls directly
under the jurisdiction of the PM and has no business with the State
Government.
Modiji had planned a dinner in honor of all the post-Chandrayaan
workers. Among the guests were not only participants in the
Chandrayan process but also retired staff and scientists who have
worked with ISRO for the past 11 years. Modiji broke the rules
until he came directly to each dinner table and greeted the people
who sat.
