(1). When highest or lowest priority groups attached to the adjacent double bonded carbon atoms lies on the same side then use the Z-configuration (i.e.like cis ).

(2).When highest or lowest priority groups attached to the adjacent double bonded carbon atoms lies on the opposite side then use the E-configuration (i.e.like trans).

(3). If double bond and triple bond are present in the terminal position then double bond should get lowest number.
