Answers I've tried and have
been wrong:
a) 6.54, 6.45, -6.45
b)-1.91, -.9
Please help, I cannot figure this one out.
(a)
use thin lens equation
1/di = 1/f - 1/x
1/di = 1/13.9 - 1/29.3
di = 26.446 cm
image distance from mirror = 16.446 cm
this becomes object distance at 16.446 - 10 = 6.446
so,
now object is to the right of lens, so object distance is negative
so,
1/13.9 = -1/6.446 + 1/di
di = 4.4037 cm
---------------------------------------------
(b)
magnification
m = ( 26.446 / 29.3) ( 4.4037 / - 6.446)
m = - 0.6166
----------------------------
(c) image is real, inverted
------------------------------------
(c)

Please do it correctly I've check 26.086 cm focal length and 0.313 magnification that is wrong. Question: When an object is placed 24.0 cm in front of a convex spherical mirror, a virtual image forms 12.5cm behind the mirror. Determine the mirror's focal length in cm and the magnification a) the mirror's focal length in cm b) the magnification
Explain answers thoroughly, and ignore air resistance and
gravity. I dont expect an answer for number 2 or 3. I just am
wanting an answer for the extra credit question, number 4.
Thanks!

An object is put at the front focal point of a convex lens. Behind the convex lens, a plane mirror is placed perpendicularly to the principal axis of the convex lens as shown in the following picture. Find the position of the image of the object using ray diagrams. (Assume the lens and the mirror are both very large in the transverse direction.) Please also describe the details of the image (real/virtual, inverted/upright, and the magnification). Does the...
A lens and a concave mirror are separated at 20.0 cm as shown in Figure . The lens and the mirror have focal lengths of 2.0 cm and 6.0 cm, respectively. Assume that an object is placed upright to the left of the lens. The image formed due to light passing through the lens twice is located at 6.0 cm to the right of the lens. (i) Determine the position of the object with respect to the lens. (ii) Describe...
