  • Here, I will first give a briefing about the types of elementary transformations.

    They are SHIFTING,SCALING,REFLECTING.

in shifting: The shape and size are not affected just the location of the graph changes. Its either a horizontal shift( adding or subtracting a constant from every x - coordinate leaving the y- coordinate unchanged) Or a Vertical shift(adding or subtracting a constant from every y-coordinate leaving the x- coordinate unchanged)

In scaling: Here, shape and size are altered. Its either a horizontal scaling( multiplying or dividing every x - coordinate by a constant and leaving the y- coordinate unchanged) Or a Vertical scaling(multiplying or dividing every y-coordinate by a constant and leaving the x- coordinate unchanged)

Remember y coordinate is nothing but f(x) component.

Reflection: A function can be reflected about x - axis by multiplying f(x) with -1 to get -f(x) and it can be reflected about y-axis by multiplying every x with -1 to get -x.
