Answer #1

HIV(Human immuno deficiency virus) is sexually transmitted disease which attacks immune system , without treatment it leads to AIDS(Aquired immuno deficiency syndrome)which leaves people vulnerable to dire infections.

HIV MEDICATION AND SIGNIFICANCE IN SOME CASE STUDIES:

There is no functional cure for HIV OR AIDS, there is no medication which has been scientifically proven to eliminate the virus or reverse the immune system damage.

  • More people living longer with HIV than we used to think was possible.
  • These are also people whose bodies naturally suppress the virus without medication referred as elite controllers, though this happens rarely.
  • they will take antiretroviral to reduce the damage caused by HIV to their immune system.
  • Some studies like ie a one well studied but not yet replicated case of a person who has functionally cured of HIV is Timothy Brown, also know as berlin patient.
  • The term "functionally cured" means that the person doesn't have to take medications and there's so little of the virus in their body that they aren't being affected by it and can't infect anyone else. It's not 100%clear whether or not this will stay true in longterm.

DISADVANTAGES OF HIV MEDICATION:

Before going to disadvantages of HIV treatment we will know what medication will given or treated for HHIV. The main treatment of HIV isa class of drugs called antiretrovirals. These drugs don't cureHIV, but they can reduce the amount of virus in the body of someone with HIV. This can keep the virus from destroying their immune system.

Today they are 20 antiretrovirals drugs are approved to treat HIV. They have take this medication through out their lifetime.

Side effects of medication/ antiretrovirals:

  • Hypersensitivity or allergic reactions, with symptoms such as fever, nausea, and vomiting.
  • Bone loss, heart disease, high blood sugar and diabetes
  • Lactic acidosis (high lactic acid levels in blood).
  • Kidney ,liver, or pancreas damage
  • Numbness, burning, or pain in the hands, or feet due to neve problems.

It might take some time for people with HIV to find the right drug regimen(a set of rules about food and excercise or medical treatment for staying healthy or improve your health). With some careful monitoring and follow up, healthcare providers will find the antiretrovirals regimen that works well with fewest side effects,
