here,

An anti-lock braking system is a system on motor vehicles which prevents the wheels from locking while braking.

The purpose of this is to allow the driver to maintain steering control under heavy braking and, in some situations, to shorten braking distances (by allowing the driver to hit the brake fully without skidding or loss of control)

"It automatically re-applies brake pressure under stopping conditions that make wheel lockup likely." But, he adds, ABS adds an advantage. "Unlike someone letting go of the brake pedal and stepping back on it, ABS can do it much faster, sensing impending skids and directing its `modulated braking' to whichever wheel, or wheels, would have locked otherwise

the correct option is c) skidding does not provide a static frictional force against the direction of motion

Are the statements below correct? With the presence of kinetic friction, an object pulled by gravity can no longer slide down an inclined plane at a constant acceleration. Considering two ways in the right figure to push two identical heavy boxes to move, no one is less strenuous than the other for overcoming the kinetic friction. When a car is speeding up, the friction force on the tire from the road has a different direction from that when the car...

    1. A pole is held vertically by attaching wires at a height of 13.4 m above the ground. The other end of each wire is anchored in the ground at a distance of 9.54 m from the base of the pole. The pole makes a right angle with the ground. What is the length of each wire? 2. A bug crawls 2.25 m along the base of a wall. Upon reaching a corner, the bug's direction of travel changes from...
