In the law of the us , diversity jurisdiction may be a sort of subject-matter jurisdiction in civil procedure during which a us district court within the Federal Judiciary has power to concentrate to a case(civil case) when the number of controversy exceeds seventy five thousand dollars ($75,000) and where the folks that are parties are diverse in citizenship and state of incorporation which nomally indicates that they are different in state and nationality. Diversity jurisdiction and federal-question jurisdiction (jurisdiction over issues arising under federal law) constitute the 2 primary categories of material jurisdiction in U.S. federal courts.

Art 34 of the Judiciary Act of 1789 is regularly applied in federal courts in diversity cases
