Hypothesis :-

in both cases force exerted by one cart is equal to force exerted by other cart during a collision according to Newton's third law. Here in this pre-lab we are talking about the forces exerted by the carts on each other, not the total force felt by each cart. In that case, forces are equal in both cases irrespective of their masses. It's a property of the universe that whenever two objects interact, they must exert the same force on each other but in opposite directions (Newton's third law)
