Utilitarian theory promotes actions to maximize the happiness and well-being of all affected individuals.

Strengths:-

1. Utilitarianism is a pragmatic approach and it emphasizes the consequences of an action.

2. Utilitarian theory treats everyone equally without paying much attention to emotional or social attachments.

3. Utilitarianism doesn’t rely on beliefs about God.

4. Every society or culture equally weighs the principle of reducing harm and increasing happiness.

Weaknesses:-

1. Utilitarian theory try to predict the consequences of an action, which is not always accurate.

2. Utilitarian theory fails to recognize one's duty towards society.

3. Utilitarian theory strives to maximize happiness, while happiness is subjective and one may find happiness in dancing others may find it in fighting.

4. We can’t measure the amount of pleasure. For example- We can't compare the pleasure of getting a new car with the joy of having sex.
