Case Study #1: Diversity. How many times have you read or heard that diversity is the key to a company’s success? Most times you can turn to the good ole fashioned diversity statement in an organization’s careers page or a diversity message from the company’s CEO. Many employers believe the generic statements will bring diverse candidates into the workplace or that diversity is a one-size fits all approach. That simply is just not the case. The success to any organization’s diversity and inclusion initiatives involves two key areas of focus: 1. Building diversity into the business plan and making it a part of how the organization does business every day. 2. Building diversity and cultural intelligence in the workplace is also a key success factor. Please discuss 1) what you would do as HR Director and; 2) how you would implement your plan?

Diversity is the key to the success of company and it is very true so As HR director i would involve diversity in my business plan and create organizational culture with diversity intelligence in it by adopting following points-

1- Make a diversity plan and align it with Business Plan-

Business plan is all about business goals, mission, vision and values so in this plan, i would make a plan in which diversity will be included. This plan will cover the policy regarding Discrimination at work like prohibition of discrimination based on age, gender,race, color etc.. the policy will also have values like fairness, honesty,loyalty,respect to people from different culture etc.the Plan will have policies related to fair employment practices and promotion opportunities.

2-make investment in strategies which support diversity-

This would include talent development, learning, performance management and retention of top talent to be future leaders in the organization based on talent of employees not based on their age, gender,race etc. The organization will follow lead by example in which each senior like me would show how diversity is respected in our action not in our words so that each person know how they can respect diversity.

now to implement this plan , i would provide diversity training to all employees-

Training is one of main part of my plan for implementation because providing training helps the employees to know more about diversity and its benefits for them and whole organization.this training will help employees to have Cultural sensitivity skills . these skills help them to create mutual respect of cultural differences , build bridges through knowledge and understanding , let them know who to work in a team and strengthen relationships and boost productivity .
