In this text,
valence = (number electrons in valence sheel of free atom)-(number non-bonding electrons on atom in molecule)
or
valence = (number of bonds)+(formal charge)

figure.4 has two models of CH5+ and text says first model has valence of 6 which I don't understand.
according to equation above. shouldn't valence be
valence = 4-0=0 or valence=5+1(I'm not sure... because there are one electron in hydrogen)=6??
