Answer #1

Dengue fever is global health threat because of high mortality and morbidity.WHO is concerned about this because about 2.5 billion people are at risk of DENV over 100 countries including Europe and US. This is most widespread viral disease and it's vector is Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus mosquito. Four serotypes were know (DENV1-DENV4) but now DENV 5 has emerged. No definitive treatment is available.Research is going on medicinal plants to find anti-dengue compounds which will be more effective, safer and less toxic than synthetic drugs.Till now about 35 plants have been documented having anti-dengue property along with their active components. This research will help to combat dengue.
