The organization structures pay increases through a fixed “step plan”. Employees are brought into the organization at set level based on the position they are filling. From there every employee receives a set increase in their pay for ten years, or ten steps. In addition to the step plan, the organization also offers cost-of-living adjustments when financially feasible for the organization. These typically average about three percent per year in order to match the inflation rate.

            The organization is unionized and individualized pay incentives are more controlled than other businesses. In order to motivate employees a career advancement program was developed to encourage employees to continue training and education as well as career based achievements. College education, specialized training, years of service, and other career achievements are used as requirements for additional pay increases. These increases are on a set schedule when all the other requirements are met. The pay increases are active at the time of eligibility and remain with employee throughout their time at the organization.

The summary highlights the pay structure of the organization and keeps in mind how the employees are motivated using different monitory incentives. The organization uses a fixed plan in order to pay salary to its employees on monthly basis. Above which the employees are given rise in their salary after every ten years of service to the organization. This is a way to help employees work with dedication by boosting their motivational levels.

Moreover, in order to make the employees feel a part of the organization, unions are also included and every employee is free to join the union as and when needed. More than this, additional pay increase to employees on the basis of their education, previous performance and years of service is given so that they are continuously motivated to work with dedication and in an effective manner. Not only the monitory benefits, but certain non monetary benefits are also provided to the employees to enhance their career growth by providing them specialized training and sending them to career advancement programs. It can be said that all these efforts put by the organization to ensure motivated and self directed workforce include providing both monetary as well as non- monetary incentives.
