The Bond Enthalpy is the energy required to break a chemical bond. The average bond enthalphy values of C-H, C-N, C=C and N-H bonds are 413, 293, 614 and 391 kJ mol-1,

Herein, 1 C-H bonds has broken.

           1 N-H bond has broken

   and 1 N-H and one c=c bonds are formed.

ΔH = ∑ ΔH(bonds broken) - ∑ ΔH(bonds formed) = 413 + 293 - 391 -614 = - 299 kJ mol-1
