Probability that a score is between z and - z is 0.84.

So,

Area from mid value to Z on either side = 0.42

Table of Area Under Standard Normal Curve gives Z = 1.405.

So,

Answer is:

1.405

(b)

n = 50

p =0.8

q = 0.2

Mean = np = 50 X 0.8 = 40

Variance = npq = 50 X 0.8 X 0.2 = 8

standard deviation = V8 = 2.8284
