Vector diseases spread due to infection carried by blood feeding anthropods like mosquitoes, ticks etc. Examples are Nile Virus, Dengue Fever, Malaria

MALARIA

- It is caused by parasites called plasmodium through bite of female Anopheles mosquitoes.

- The disease is curable but still many people die due to lack of medical facilities and awareness.

- Symptoms can be seen after around 10 days of mosquito bite and the first symptoms are fever, headache etc.

- Most of the cases come from Sub Saharan Africa

- To prevent from it, one should use mosquito nets, creams etc to prevent mosquito bite.

Zoonotic diseases are spreaded from animals to human and the examples are bird flu, cat scratch fever

BIRD FLU

- It is also called as avian influenza.

- It is a viral infection. H5N1 is the most common form of bird flu.

- The common symptoms are cough, diarrhea, fever, headache, sore throat, malaise

- A travellor, a poultry farmer, people eating undercooked poultry are at greater risk

- To diagnose bird flu, doctor may ask you for auscultation test, CBC test, Chest X ray
