1- Diffusion is the movement of gas, solid or liquid particles from higher concentration to lower concentration where as osmosis is a special type of diffusion in which the movement of solvent occurs from higher to lower concentration.

Osmosis require semipermeable membrane where as diffusion does not require semipermeable membrane.

2- In salt water solution,  salt is solute and water is solvent.

3- with increase in concentration of solute, the rate of diffusion of solute is increased because higher concentration gradient is created by increase in solute concentration.

4- With increase in molecular weight, diffusion process is decreased.

5-Smaller the size of solute, faster the process of diffusion because smaller particle can move faster in diffusion process. Larger the size of solute particle, slower the diffusion rate.
