What is the preferred protocol for transmitting avatar position changes to and from a network game server, TCP or UDP?

Ans:Data transmission protocol is preferred protocol for transmitting avatar position changes to and from a network game server.

Most of the people say that UDP is always better for real time games than TCP.I have understood that TCP tries to resend packets over and over till the other side gets them where as UDP don't care.

Most of the things which i have read is that UDP is a must for any realtime game where as TCP is terrible.But most of the people implement in the form of TCP when comparing to UDP.
