Question

Calculate the final temperature of the fluid coming out of the heat exchangers. This heat exchanger will be placed in the shell containing 100 C water (that do not change)

This has two parts

(1) Heat exchanger with no feature( as it is)

(2) Heat exchanger with conical features in the two exit pipes.

Your fluid initial temperature is room temperature 25 C. area of 0.13ft^3 without the cone, estimated are of 0.00014ft^2 for each cone exit and you can make your own assumption

A shell-and-tube heat exchanger similar to the one shown in the Figure below is used to recover energy from waste water at 40°C to heat fresh water entering at 18°C. The mass flow rate of the waste water is 4 kg/s which is the same as that of the fresh water. Using the data given, calculate: (i) the optimum rate of energy recovery; the required heat transfer area; (iii) the temperature of the fresh water at exit. Shell fluid inlet...

PROBLEM 3 (45 points) The condenser of a large steam power plant is a heat exchanger in which steam is condensed to liquid water. Assume the condenser to be a parallel flow shell-and-tube heat exchanger consisting of a single shell and 1x10 tubes, each executing two passes. The inner diameter of tubes is D = 50 mm and its thickness is 5 mm (Do not ignore the thickness). The steam condenses on their outer surface. Thermal conductivity of the tube...

at Your objective in this problem is to design a "simple" annular flow heat exchanger (see the "simple" description the beginning of this HW). A heat exchanger of this kind can easily be built in your garage with two different size pper pipes along with some solder. Assume both fluids are water with the cold fluid flowing in the outer tube. The pipe diameters are based in Type L copper tube dimensions: outside diameter 1/2 -inch nominal tube is 0.625...
