Glycosyl transferases are a group of enzymes that transfer the activated glycosyl groups which are attached to nucleotide diphosphate (NDP) for example GDP- Glucose donates glucose to the carbohydrate or non-carbohydrate acceptor.

NDP-sugar = acceptor sugar -------------> sugar-sugar (disacharide) + NDP
