The balanced equation for the dissolution of solid Ca(OH)2 in water is: Ca (OH)2(s)Ca2+(aq) + 20H (aq) Fill in the following blanks to give the correct Ksp expression for Ca(OH)2 (note: if an exponent should be 1, you can leave it blank) Ksp = [Ca2+] [OH-] 2 You are correct. Your receipt no. is 163-1091 f 2. In this experiment, you will titrate (neutralize) calcium hydroxide with hydrochloric acid. Below is the unbalanced equation for this reaction. Fill in the blanks to give the best balanced equation (note: if a coefficient should be 1, you can leave it blank,) Ca(OH)2(aq) + 2 HCl(aq) CaCl2(aq) + 2 H2O(I) ? You are correct. Your receipt no. is 163-4397 3. A 25.00 mL sample of a saturated Ca(OH)2 solution required 27.22 mL of 0.0200 M HCI to titrate it. a. Using this data, calculate the molar solubility of Ca(OH)2 Enter your answer here to the correct number of significant figures, but carry all figures for your remaining calculations. mol/L Submit Answer Tries 0/99

Answer #1

3.

A. moles HCl used = 0.02 M x 27.22 ml = 0.5444 mmol

a. molar solubility of Ca(OH)2 = 0.5444 mmol/2 x 25 ml = 0.011 mol/L

b. solubility (g/L) = 0.011 mol/L x 74.093 g/mol

                           = 0.815 g/L

c. Ksp = [Ca2+][OH-]^2

           = (0.011)(2 x 0.011)^2

           = 5.33 x 10^-6
