Question

A snowball rolls off a barn roof that slopes downward at an angle of 40 ?...

A snowball rolls off a barn roof that slopes downward at an angle of 40 ? (Figure 1) . The edge of the roof is 14.0 m above the ground, and the snowball has a speed of 7.00 m/s as it rolls off the roof. Ignore air resistance.

Assume the coordinate origin is at the point on the roof where the snowball rolls off and that the positive xdirection is to the right and the positive y direction is upwards.

.A snowball rolls off a barn roof that slopes downw

Part A

How far from the edge of the barn does the snowball strike the ground if it doesn't strike anything else while falling?

x =

6.93

  m

Part B

Draw x?t graphs for the motion in part A.

Part C

Draw y?t graphs for the motion in part A.

Plot points at t=0s,t=0.4s,t=0.8s,t=1.0s,t=1.3s.

Part D

Draw vx?t graphs for the motion in part A.

Part E

Draw vy?t graphs for the motion in part A.

Answer #1

I only know the first part of this (part A).

7 sin (40)= 4.4995

7 cos (40)= 5.3623

14= 4.4995t +4.9t^2

t = 1.29238491 or  −2.2107522

5.3623 (1.29238491) +0 = ~6.91
