Answer #1

Answer

Formula :

Total Cost = Total fixed cost + Total variable cost

When Quantity = 5 we have :

42 = Total fixed cost + 32

=> Total fixed cost = 10.

Average Fixed cost = Total Fixed cost/ Quantity = 10/5 = 2

Average Variable cost = (Total Variable cost)/ Quantity = 32/5 = 6.4

Hence, When 5 shirts are produced, the average fixed cost is 2 and average variable cost is 6.4.

Hence, the correct answer is (A) $2.00 ; $6.40
