Indicators are usually organic molecules with functional groups that will accept or donate protons to the solution which will change the structure and make the solution change color. How does the precision of a pH measurement done with an indicator compare to that of pH paper or a pH probe?

pH paper/probe defines as low as pH ~ 1 range of area with some color on the paper, thus we can only say that it's a pH = 8 solution but we can not precisely say that is it really pH = 8.5 or 8.6? That's the problem with paper/probe. Whereas the organic molecules, they are just the accurate ones, only at particular pH values their color will change suddenly and you can precisely tell the pH of the solution precisely.
