when the lion is removed from the the Savanna, then a the population size of gazelle is increased because the Lion acts as a Predator on Gazelle. Due to absence of its predator, The population size of Gazelle is increased. This is a direct effect. ( because removal of lion directly affects the Gazelle).

Because Gazelle population size is increased with removal of lion. Now the chewtah has more number of prey. That's why he can predates easily. And have increase in their size. This is indirect effect because lion is not connected with cheetah. Yet there are increase in cheetah population occurs.
