Answer #1

The cell cycle refers to the series of events that occur in a cell and leads to the division and duplication of the DNA of the cell in order to generate two daughter cells. During interphase, the cell grows and collects the nutrients that are required by the cell for the mitosis process. It prepares the cell for the division and duplication of the DNA.

During G1 phase the size of the cell increases and the ensures that the cell is ready for the next phase. In S phase, the DNA replication takes place. The cell then enters the G2 phase where the cell continues and gets ready to enter the mitosis phase and divide.

During mitosis, the first phase is the prophase where the chromosomes condense and the formation of the spindle fibers takes place. During metaphase, the spinal formation is complete and the chromosomes align horizontally on the metaphase plate.

They have then pulled apart in order to separate the two sister chromatids and these migrate to the opposite of the cells and this phase is known as anaphase. The final phase is the telophase where two daughter cells are formed and the spindle fibers fade away. The correct labeling is done below:

G: phase additional growth nd preperation for division) S phase Metaphase (DNA replication) eto G, phase (normal cell functio

Checkpoints are pauses between phases of the cell cycle during which a cell determines whether or not it is ready to proceed to the next phase. For example, because a cell with damaged DNA can lead to cancer if it is allowed to divide, it usually arrests the cell cycle until the damage can be repaired. At which phase(s) of the cell cycle would a cell normally check for the integrity of its DNA? See Section 2.3 (Page 17) View...
