image distance u = 20 cm

image height y' = y/2

magnification m = y'/y

m = 1/2

magnification m = -v/u

v = -u/2 = -20/2 = -10 cm

from the relation

1/f = 1/u+1/v

f = uv/u+v

f = 20*-10/10 = -20 cm
