Answer #1

(1) There are two types of hypotheses are as below:

i) Null Hypothesis(Ho) and

ii) Alternative Hypothesis(Ha)

(2) Null hypothesis implies a statement that expects no difference or effect. On the contrary, an alternative hypothesis is one that expects some difference or effect.

Hence,  Null hypothesis is the hypothesis, which is to be actually tested, whereas alternative hypothesis gives an alternative to the null hypothesis.

(3) The required two decisions are:

i) Reject null hypothesis(Ho) and

ii) Failed to reject null hypothesis(Ho).

This problem is designed to give you an understanding of the methodology behind hypothesis testing. Ever wonder how someone in America can be arrested if they really are presumed innocent, why a defendant is found not guilty instead of innocent, or why Americans put up with a justice system which sometimes allows criminals to go free on technicalities? ESAND ABUSES 1 Uses Hypothesis Testing Hypothesis testing is important in many different fields because it gives a scientific procedure for assessing the validity of a claim about a population. Some of the concepts in hypothesis testing are intuitive, but some are not. For instance, the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition suggests that eating dark chocolate can help prevent heart disease. A random sample of healthy volunteers were assigned to eat 3.5 ounces of dark chocolate each day for 15...
