Answer #1

Cross sectional research collects data from subsets of a population at specific points of time. All the data is collected simultaneously. For this specific study, we have to recruit participants of every age between 8 to 12 years. For example, we can have 10 participants who are 8 years old, 10 participants who are 9 years old, and so on. We then need to measure reading ability and draw comparisons.

Imagine that you are doing an exhaustive study on the children in all of the elementary schools in your school district. You are particularly interested in how much time children spend doing active play on weekends. You find that for this population of 2,431 children, the average number of minutes spent doing active play on weekends is μ = 87.85, with a standard deviation of ơ-118.1.
