Answer #1

Surgery to repair a torn rotator cuff most often involves re-attaching the tendon to the head of humerus (upper arm bone).

1. About pre-operative medications

· Medications cannot help a torn tendon heal. However, mild pain-relieving medications may make shoulders with rotator cuff tears more comfortable.

· Cortisone (steroid) injections may lessen the discomfort from the cuff problem by reducing the inflammatory response.

· It may also weaken the tendon tissue. Multiple injections of steroids are discouraged for this reason.

2. consent form

It should contain the details of procedure, benefits, expected risk and patient assurance /willingness statement. Tell the patient to read thoroughly and put signature. It contains patient signature, witness signature and nurse and physician signature.
